I dedicated my career to teaching at secondary level and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I’ve taught in schools in Dorset, Cyprus and Germany before ending my 41 year-long career in Camborne School Cornwall.

 

My other abiding interest is theatre and whilst teaching I always involved pupils in stage productions and scenery painting whenever possible. I always continued my own work alongside my teaching commitment and considered it vital that pupils saw I had a personal ability to express myself artistically and practically in the arena in which I was teaching others. It was also to contradict the hackneyed assumption that ‘Those who cannot do – Teach’. 

 

Since retirement and relocation to Bournemouth, I have concentrated upon my two main artistic interests of illustration and calligraphy and ceramics.  Both these forms are based upon my interests in medieval manuscripts and/or natural form.
